Connect your AI assistant

Connect the SEO Sauna MCP server to Claude, Cursor, Codex, and other AI clients.

SEO Sauna MCP lets AI clients call SEO Sauna tools for keyword research, SERPs, local search, competitor and domain research, backlinks, saved keywords, rank tracking, project context, AI visibility, and Google Search Console.

The MCP server URL is:

https://app.seosauna.com/mcp

The first connection asks you to sign in to SEO Sauna and approve access. After that, your client can call SEO Sauna tools with the scopes you approved. For headless environments and CI, connect with an API key instead.

You can also copy the endpoint and a ready-made setup prompt from Agent setup in SEO Sauna. See Agent setup for the prompt-based setup and for adding skills.

ChatGPT web and desktop

Follow the ChatGPT setup guide. The custom connection works on Free and paid ChatGPT plans, although workspace permissions can limit access.

Claude Desktop

  1. Open Customize → Connectors.
  2. Click Add (or +), then choose Add custom connector.
  3. Paste https://app.seosauna.com/mcp.
  4. Approve the SEO Sauna sign-in when prompted.

Custom connectors are available on Free, Pro, Max, Team, and Enterprise plans. The Free plan allows one custom connector.

Claude Code

Use user scope to make SEO Sauna available in every project, or local scope for the current repository only.

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user seosauna https://app.seosauna.com/mcp

Approve the SEO Sauna sign-in when prompted.

Cursor

  1. Open Cursor Settings → Tools & Integrations → MCP Tools.

  2. Click New MCP Server. Cursor opens mcp.json.

  3. Add:

    {
      "mcpServers": {
        "seosauna": {
          "url": "https://app.seosauna.com/mcp"
        }
      }
    }

  4. Approve the SEO Sauna sign-in when prompted.

Codex CLI

Run in your terminal:

codex mcp add seosauna --url https://app.seosauna.com/mcp

Approve the sign-in when prompted. If no sign-in starts, run codex mcp login seosauna.

Codex in the ChatGPT desktop app

  1. Open Codex, then Settings → MCP servers → Add server.
  2. Name it seosauna, choose Streamable HTTP, and enter https://app.seosauna.com/mcp.
  3. Save, and select Restart when prompted.
  4. Select Authenticate for SEO Sauna and approve the sign-in.
  5. Start a new Codex chat and ask: "Use SEO Sauna to check my connection and list my projects."

This connection is separate from ChatGPT on the web. See OpenAI's MCP documentation.

Other MCP clients

Any client that supports remote MCP servers over HTTP can connect. Add a server named seosauna with the URL https://app.seosauna.com/mcp and complete the sign-in. If the client does not support OAuth, use an API key.

Connect with an API key

Use an API key for headless environments, CI, or clients where OAuth is inconvenient. Keys are personal: anything an agent does with your key acts as you in your workspace.

In SEO Sauna settings, open API keys, create a key, and copy it right away. It is shown only once.

Claude Code:

claude mcp add --transport http --scope user seosauna https://app.seosauna.com/mcp --header "Authorization: Bearer oseo_YOUR_KEY"

Cursor, in mcp.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "seosauna": {
      "url": "https://app.seosauna.com/mcp",
      "headers": {
        "Authorization": "Bearer oseo_YOUR_KEY"
      }
    }
  }
}

Codex CLI, with the key in an environment variable:

export SEOSAUNA_API_KEY=oseo_YOUR_KEY
codex mcp add seosauna --url https://app.seosauna.com/mcp --bearer-token-env-var SEOSAUNA_API_KEY

Other clients that support custom HTTP headers can send Authorization: Bearer oseo_YOUR_KEY or x-api-key: oseo_YOUR_KEY.

Available tools

After setup

MCP gives your agent SEO Sauna data. Agent Skills tell it how to use that data for specific SEO jobs. Start with one focused workflow instead of asking the agent to "do SEO":
