Agent setup

Connect your AI agent to SEO Sauna with a copyable setup prompt and keep its SEO skills up to date.

SEO Sauna connects your agent to live SEO data through MCP. Agent Skills give it reusable workflows for keyword research, audits, competitor research, and other SEO tasks.

Set up your agent

Using ChatGPT? Follow the ChatGPT setup guide. It works on Free and paid plans.

  1. Open Agent setup in SEO Sauna and copy the setup prompt.
  2. Paste it into Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Codex, or another agent. The prompt asks the agent to add the SEO Sauna MCP connection with its own supported method and to guide you through any steps you must do yourself.
  3. Approve the SEO Sauna sign-in in your browser when prompted.
  4. Ask the agent: "Use SEO Sauna to check my connection and list my projects." This uses no credits.

Some agents cannot change their own settings. In that case they will list the steps for you, or you can follow the manual MCP setup for your client.

Add the skills

The setup prompt connects MCP. To give your agent the SEO workflows too, install the skill zips as described in Agent Skills. Then ask the agent to use SEO Coach to help you choose what to do next.

Update your skills

When SEO Sauna releases improved skills, update the copies installed in your agent. Updating or reconnecting MCP does not update skill files. A ChatGPT custom connection has no skill files to update; see Update the connection.

  1. Download the latest zip: all skills at seo-sauna-skills.zip, or one skill at https://seosauna.com/skills/<skill-name>.zip.
  2. Back up any personal edits you made to installed skills.
  3. Replace each skill folder completely, including supporting files:
    • Claude Desktop / Cowork: open Customize → Skills, remove the old version, and upload the new zip.
    • Claude Code: unzip into ~/.claude/skills/, replacing the old folders.
    • Codex: unzip into ~/.codex/skills/, replacing the old folders.
    • Other agents: unzip into the agent's skills folder, or use its skill manager.
  4. Start a new session, or reload skills if your agent supports it.
  5. Ask the agent to confirm it can find the updated SEO Sauna skills before your next SEO task.
